The theme of Ran Dian Issue 6 was ProcessOnce again, the issue demonstrates a new use of the 12-column grid but with the same system of Univers Condensed Bold and Hiragino in a fixed set of typesizes

The issue explores posterization, a technique often used in silkscreen printing to render high contrast images in multiple colorsFor the issue, we posterized various images and replaced standard CMYK inks with a randomized combination fluorescent and metallic inksBecause of the tight timeline of the magazine, cellphone images of a series of offset tests were messaged to us which we would then approve for print

The posterized images are featured both in a front gallery section of the magazine and on the one-side coated card stock cover and chapter dividersThe metallic and fluorescent inks partly obscure content on the dividers

The images are also featured in a continuous section of the magazine, printed in different sections of 16 pages with different combinations of fluorescent and metallic inks replacing the CMYK channels
