Ran Dian is a contemporary Chinese art magazineAfter having worked on PIN–UP magazine previously, Ran Dian represented a new opportunity to focus on a dual language typesetting and production experiments with supply chain printers in China

Issue 2 was the first issue we designed, and established an identity that would evolve over the following issuesThe magazine is typeset in Univers Condensed Bold for English and Hiragano for Chinese, and employs a 12-column grid and fixed set of 3 type sizes

One-side coated card stock is used for the cover and multiple chapter dividers bound into the magazine, and the magazine is perfect bound with pur glueEach issue uses a different production technique to illustrate the theme

For Issue 2, the theme was Institutional Critique and two black inks are overprinted on top of each other on the chapter dividers
