Rockbund Art Museum is a contemporary art museum based in Shanghai located in the former European concession north of the Bund, an historic promenade along the western bank of the Huangpu RiverThe building was restored and upgraded by David Chipperfield Architects

With an active schedule of exhibitions and events each year, the museum homepage functions as a calendar and showcase of all the activitiesThe main principle of the design is that of an image lightbox, where images are rendered transparent on top of each other in two layers throughout the site. On hover of the images, the images are rendered fully legible

A color system of different combinations of 100% RGB color channels is used to identify different type of activities and hierarchies of information on the site

The website is typeset in the typeface Arial Unicode in English and Chinese. The site is hosted on two servers, one in China and one outside of China to improve loading speed on both sides of the Great Firewall. When a user visits inside China, Chinese appears first; outside of China, English appears first.
