In 2017, SO–IL published their first monographThe book, centered around images mostly photographed by photographers Iwan Baan and Naho Kubota, captures SO–IL's experiments with materials including mirrored surfaces, walls and columns in many of their projects

All blue areas on the CTP plate were printed by Artron Shenzhen with white ink, followed by CMYK infomrationon top, all in one pass on a 6 color UV press

To translate the reflective surfaces, images are printed on mirrored paper, with a combination of white ink and CMYK inksThe white ink layer is printed first, masking out any information in images that are not mirroredNext, CMYK information is printed on top of the white ink masksAs a result, the mirrored surfaces in the photographs end up being actually reflective

This idea is further played out with with different colored papers: metallic silver for a chainmail-like curtain draping Kukje Museum in Seoul, orange for a patterned carpet in a museum exhibition, green for grass and foliage surrounding the Frieze New York tent, and black for walls in an office renovation

The book was printed by Artron Shenzhen, using two layers of white UV ink in addition to CMYK, as well as double-sided mirrored and colored paperThe mirrored sections were subcontracted to a printer specializing in printing on mirrored paper for Chinese cigarette packaging

The book is typeset in Univers Bold in two typesizes throughout the interior layoutAn index of interior page spreads was included at the back of the book as a visual index
